Like many others, the start of the Covid pandemic forced my hand at a career change. Having worked at my hairdressing career for around nine years, I had achieved a pretty solid clientele and was self employed in a salon that I loved, with people I loved. Unfortunately, over these nine years, I had suffered with a health condition that made this career choice very difficult at times. In 2019 I had the biggest health crisis I had had so far and although I returned to the position, I was faced with the reality that I would not be able to continue with my passion for much longer. It was a real struggle to come to terms with but heading into the first lockdown and unable to work, I was forced to face the new reality.

Along with the rest of the country, I experimented with baking banana bread, cleaning, more cleaning and exercising, whenever I wasn’t attempting to homeschool. My saving grace came as reigniting my love for art and painting and experimenting with different mediums and techniques. I was finding my new passion. It took about a year for me to come to terms with leaving hairdressing behind, and I still dabble a little bit with doing friends and families and weddings but mostly, I have fully shifted my focus to making people feel good through my painting on canvas rather than on their hair.

I first decided to start selling during my pregnancy to my second son when I painted some candles as gifts and had such a good reaction that I decided to give it a try. I have been really enjoying the process of entering a new industry, especially as I am able to give it more time and attention now that my son is that little bit older.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far and continues to as I learn and grow.
